A Forum for Fraud-Fighting Faculty in Higher Ed
Recent FraudEDge columns have focused on the progress higher education institutions have made in developing anti-fraud courses and programs. Because this area of study is relatively new in higher education, professors have had the benefit of incorporating creative methods to help students develop and master the knowledge and skills necessary to embark on their careers. This column continues with that theme and focuses on service learning projects.
Service learning projects involve classroom and "in the field" assignments that allow students to address real-world fraud within their communities. In this column, my co-authors, Sara Melendy, Ph.D., CFE, CPA; Martha Doran, Ph.D., CPA, and I highlight three service learning projects that encourage "learning by doing."
