On June 15, the Board of Regents adopted the CFE Code of Professional Standards Interpretation and Guidance. This document is a resource for Certified Fraud Examiners to help them understand and remain in compliance with the CFE Code of Professional Standards. Both the Code of Professional Standards and the Interpretation and Guidance are available at ACFE.com/standards.

The Interpretation and Guidance contains commentary on every rule in the Code of Professional Standards plus explains the meaning of each rule and how it's to be construed. All ACFE members are encouraged to consult the Interpretation and Guidance when questions arise about their professional or ethical obligations in connection with anti-fraud engagements.

The Interpretation and Guidance was drafted with substantial input from the members of the ACFE's Professional Standards and Practices Committee, which conducted a detailed review of the Code of Professional Standards and suggested a number of points of clarification. The Interpretation and Guidance was posted for public comment in 2013 and revised according to feedback received from ACFE members.

The Professional Standards and Practices Committee will be tasked with updating the Interpretation and Guidance as necessary to provide direction to CFEs about their responsibilities under the Code of Professional Standards.

Questions, comments or suggestions about the CFE Code of Professional Standards or about the Interpretation and Guidance may be directed to the ACFE's Professional Standards Committee Liaison at ProfessionalStandards@ACFE.com.
