Delrice Augustus
On June 15, 2014, the ACFE Board of Regents voted to permanently expel Mr. Delrice Augustus, a former Director of the Bureau of Auditing and Compliance Services for the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This decision was predicated on his guilty plea to theft from a federally funded entity, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 666(a)(1)(A) and forfeiture. Mr. Augustus admitted to fraudulently misusing government issued purchasing and travel cards and receiving reimbursement from the State of Louisiana for official travel that did not occur.
Grace Haden
On June 15, 2014, the ACFE Board of Regents voted to permanently expel Ms. Grace Haden of New Zealand. The Board's decision was substantially based on findings in the case of Wells v Haden [2008] DCR 859. Throughout the opinion, Judge Joyce of the District Court of Auckland, pointed to various statements made by Ms. Haden on her website, via facsimile and by email accusing the plaintiff of being dishonest, untruthful, untrustworthy, a fraudster and a criminal. The opinion states that Ms. Haden maliciously and with a disregard for the truth, embarked upon a relentless and vindictive campaign to destroy the plaintiff's good reputation. Based on this conduct, the Court awarded the plaintiff $57,500 in punitive and compensatory damages.
