Eric R. Feldman, CFE, and Bethmara Kessler, CFE, took their oaths of office as newly elected members of the Board of Regents during the board’s semi-annual meeting on Feb. 7 at ACFE Global Headquarters in Austin, Texas.

The Regents elected Ryan C. Hubbs, CFE, to be chair and Tony Prior, CFE, to be vice chair. They elected Feldman to be secretary; Kessler, treasurer; and Simon, assistant treasurer.

Since the 2018 spring meeting of the Board of Regents, the ACFE welcomed eight new chapters including those in Rwanda, Finland and Slovakia. As of publication, the ACFE has 187 chapters in 68 countries.

Board members reviewed pending disciplinary matters awaiting recommendations from the Board of Review. The Board of Regents also reviewed ACFE committee reports and appointed new committee members to replace outgoing members.

ACFE Vice President of Education John Gill, J.D., CFE; and ACFE Research Director Andi McNeal, CFE, CPA, reported that the ACFE has contracted with Prometric to conduct an extensive job skills analysis survey of the ACFE membership this summer. The ACFE will use the information to evaluate subjects and topics tested on the CFE Exam. The survey information will help the ACFE ensure that the exam remains current and tests the knowledge that CFEs need to perform their jobs effectively.

Key ACFE staff updated the Board on the ACFE’s overall membership growth. As the ACFE continues its global expansion, the ACFE management team has focused efforts on member engagement strategies in many international regions. Initiatives and resource allocation toward programs like the ACFE Community, the 90-Day CFE Challenge, the ACFE Mentorship program and the partnership development activities have been successful at engaging existing members and accelerating member growth overseas.

The next meeting of the Board of Regents will be held during the 30th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference on June 23 in Austin.

Nominations open for 2020-2021 Board of Regents

Nominations will open on June 1 for three positions on the ACFE’s 2020-2021 Board of Regents. An application is included in this issue of Fraud Magazine.

“CFEs are extremely important in leading the global fight against fraud,” said Ryan C. Hubbs, CFE, chair of the Board of Regents. “One way that CFEs can continue this fight is to serve on the Board of Regents for the ACFE."

“Under the ACFE bylaws, any CFE in good standing may apply for a position on the Board of Regents. The self-nominating process is open to each of you. I encourage all CFEs to consider applying for a position on the Board of Regents,” Hubbs said. “If elected, your guidance and leadership can help the ACFE continue to maintain high professional standards for CFEs and the anti-fraud profession.”

The Nominations Committee will select nine applicants to vie for three available positions in this year’s election. Beginning Nov. 1 and ending Dec. 31, certified members of the ACFE will vote for their selections for the three new board members.
