Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The global ACFE community is made up of more than 90,000 individuals, each with their own identities, experiences, opinions and contributions. And our community is undoubtedly stronger because of our diversity. But we most benefit from this strength when we intentionally honor these differences by:

  • Listening to and learning from others with diverse perspectives
  • Fostering inclusive environments
  • Promoting and implementing policies that are fair and equitable to everyone

Research supports this — diverse and inclusive teams make better business decisions, are more innovative and, ultimately, outperform those with less diversity. The work of pushing for true diversity, equity and inclusion is a responsibility held by all and done for all. Below are resources for ACFE members and others to foster diversity, equity and inclusion in the anti-fraud community and beyond.

What are diversity, equity and inclusion?

  • Diversity:
the quality of being different or unique at the individual or group level. This includes intersections of age, race, skin color, mental and developmental abilities, education, faith, religion, beliefs, ancestry, national origin, citizenship, language differences, nationality, political views, parental status, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, social class, economic class, work and behavioral styles, experiences, culture and more.
  • Equity:
the fair treatment, access, and opportunity for all individuals and groups of individuals within systems and institutions.
  • Inclusion:
a dedicated effort to promote and celebrate diversity. While diversity will exist in every social system, inclusion must be created and actively encouraged to ensure all individuals feel welcome and valued.
