According to research conducted by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the typical organization loses an estimated 5% of annual revenues to fraud. Applied to the estimated 2013 Gross World Product, this figure translates to a potential total fraud loss of more than $3.7 trillion among organizations, despite increased emphasis on anti-fraud controls and recent legislation to combat fraud.

The ACFE's 2014 Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud & Abuse details the survey results of more than 1,400 Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs) throughout the world who were asked to provide specific information on one fraud case they had personally investigated.

The end result is a comprehensive report that sheds light on occupational fraud and abuse while offering stark lessons and valuable insights about its prevention and detection.
