The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), in
collaboration with the Capital Market Authority of Saudi Arabia, will host the 2021 ACFE Fraud Conference Middle
East in a virtual format, 7-8 April. This conference will bring
together professionals from the Middle Eastern region working in both public
and private sectors, and will provide a platform to exchange ideas, expertise
and discuss the latest trends and tools in fraud detection, response and
prevention.
Attendees will hear from His Excellency Mr. Mohammed El Kuwaiz, Chairman
of the Capital Market Authority of Saudi Arabia; Preet Bharara, senior CNN
legal analyst and former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York;
and Pamela Barnum, a trust strategist and body language expert. They will be
joined by other expert speakers who will help attendees explore important cases
and trends that have emerged in technological development, risk management and
fraud prevention.
The conference is supported by strategic partner Saudi Anti Fraud
Association (SAFA). President and CEO of the ACFE, Bruce Dorris, J.D., CFE,
CPA, thanked the Capital Market Authority of Saudi Arabia for their help, as
the timing of this conference could not be more critical.
“Over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has created
unprecedented opportunities for fraudsters as every industry and economy around
the world has been affected. Now, more than ever, it is important for
anti-fraud professionals to stay aware of new information and work together to
come up with solutions to emerging issues,” he said. “By supporting this
conference, the Capital Market Authority of Saudi Arabia is facilitating
important conversations about the current reality of fraud.”
SAFA’s Chairman Mohammed O. Subaie agreed with Dorris in the
importance of this conference. “Fraud prevention is one of the pillars to
corporate governance and transparency in reporting — and ultimately more
investment in the capital markets,” he said. SAFA’s acting CEO Ahmed T.
AlSulaimani added, “Fraud jeopardizes our development and our progress. This is
why we must drive towards anti-fraud measures and why SAFA has chosen to work
with the ACFE, largest anti-fraud association in the world.”
