The annual fraud awareness campaign brings organizations, agencies and people together as a united front of fraud fighters.
AUSTIN, Texas (November 3, 2025) – The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) is excited to celebrate a significant milestone as International Fraud Awareness Week, also known as Fraud Week, reaches its 25th anniversary this year. The annual fraud awareness campaign began in 2000 as National Fraud Awareness Week before expanding to a global scale in 2007.
Every year, organizations from Fortune 500 companies and local businesses to law enforcement and government agencies and more are encouraged to act as Fraud Week Supporting Organizations, taking the pledge to share anti-fraud education with their communities. More than 1,500 organizations from around the world have participated in the event in recent years by holding employee trainings, community events, sharing anti-fraud resources and more.
"I'm so proud of the way the global anti-fraud community has rallied to support Fraud Week," said ACFE Chief Executive Officer John Warren, J.D., CFE. "We are all working to raise awareness continuously, and Fraud Week provides an important annual reminder for everyone in our profession to focus on raising awareness, as well as anchor dates that bring the global community together in a coordinated effort that helps build enthusiasm for the cause of fraud awareness."
"Fighting fraud is a team effort," added ACFE President John Gill, J.D., CFE. "Getting your employees onboard as part of your team definitely increases your chances of winning."
The ACFE produces new educational resources for Fraud Week that organizations can use as part of their Fraud Week efforts. Resources available at FraudWeek.com include reports and infographics from ACFE research, fraud risk assessment checklists, tools, guides, videos and case studies — all aimed at reducing the impact of fraud and financial crimes.
