The investigation known as “Project Luxe” began in 2023 and focused on an organized crime group that defrauded victims of more than CAD 4 million in luxury vehicles through a series of sophisticated schemes. The lengthy covert surveillance operation uncovered a broader domestic and international fraud network, leading to multiple arrests and recovery of millions in stolen assets. 
 
In this on-demand session, Detective Constable Victoria Bowes of the Halton Regional Police Service Fraud Unit presents a case study on the fraud schemes, investigative techniques and resources used to disrupt this fraud network and prevent further harm. You will learn practical tools and tips for spotting fraud and counterfeit documents during the course of a fraud investigation, as well as explore ways that fraudsters create these documents to carry out their schemes.
