Coach: When did you receive your CFE credential?
Perkins: I received my CFE credential on March 7, 2013.
Coach: You attended the CFE Exam Review Course in Las Vegas, and following the course, you sat for the CFE Exam on-site. Please describe your experience of participating in the 3½-day course and then sitting for the exam immediately after.
Perkins: I felt like the CFE Exam Review Course was an effective use of my study time. It solidified the areas I was weak in and summarized other topics that I had only studied lightly. I loved having the option of taking the exam while the information was still fresh. This format definitely provided me the edge I needed to pass all four sections in 3 ½ days.
Coach: What did you like most about the CFE Exam Review Course?
Perkins: My favorite thing about the CFE Exam Review Course was the stories the instructors used to explain the material. I recalled the exam subject matter for a number of CFE exam questions due to stories told earlier that day. I also appreciated the consolidated version of the Fraud Examiners Manual that was distributed at the CFE Exam Review Course.
Coach: In what ways do you feel that your new CFE credential will be beneficial to you in your current profession?
Perkins: As an auditor in the health care profession, fraud is very real and relevant to our everyday work. Not only does the CFE provide me with the tools I need to excel in my profession, but it lets management and my clients know I take what I do seriously because I have invested the time to become certified.
Coach: How did you prepare yourself to sit for the exam on-site? Did you spend any additional time studying after class each day?
Perkins: I prepared for the exam by completing a minimum of 50 percent of the CFE Exam Prep questions and one practice test for each section. I completed these questions prior to attending the CFE Exam Review Course. These questions, in combination with the instructors’ teaching, enabled me to take the exam immediately after class each day.
Coach: Will you continue using the CFE Exam Prep Course as a reference tool?
Perkins: I will use the U.S. Fraud Examiners Manual as a reference tool.
Coach: Would you recommend this course to your colleagues?
Perkins: Yes, I already have!
Coach: Do you have any study tips or suggestions for aspiring CFEs?
Perkins: Study as many of the CFE Exam Prep questions as you can. Also, complete at least one practice test from each section.
Coach: Thank you for your time and congratulations on your new CFE credential.
