• CFE Exam Application Instructions

    If you are an Associate Member in good standing, you can apply online. The CFE Exam online application consists of four sections: Qualifications, Experience and Character, Signature Statement and Payment. The online application will take approximately 10 minutes and payment is required to complete the process.

    The exam application fee is non-refundable. The ACFE will keep your application on file for two years. If, after two years you have not earned the CFE Credential, your exam application will be canceled and a new application, fee and supporting documentation must be submitted.

    Step 2: Submit your documentation by visiting the Certification Portal 

    The Certification Portal allows you to manage your application by submitting documentation directly to the Certification Department. Supporting documentation includes:

    Details on your work experience, including your responsibilities and percentage of time spent in each area.

    Documentation of the education claimed on your exam application. Accepted documentation includes official transcripts, photocopies of degree certificates or diplomas (must be provided in English or translated to English). Advisory transcripts not accepted.

    A recent photograph. Low file quality or blurry images are not accepted.

    Three professional recommendations completed by individuals who have worked with you professionally and can comment on your character, integrity, and professional skills.

    Once your application is completed and submitted, please allow 3 to 5 business days for the reviewing and processing of your documentation. You will be notified by email when your application is approved and you are eligible to take the CFE Exam.
