Hamed Kazim is a UAE National and a graduate of the University of California, San Diego. He joined Arthur Andersen in the Washington D.C. office and obtained his CPA qualification with high distinction in 1986. Kazim has worked as a partner in Arthur Andersen and later as the Managing Partner of Ernst & Young in the UAE. From 1999-2000, Kazim was seconded to TECOM/Dubai Internet City, precursor to Dubai Holding and DU, as advisor to start up the project and later, as co-CEO.
From 2003 to 2006, Kazim initially advised and, later, helped form Dubai World. In his capacity as Group CFO, Hamed helped turn the group into a large conglomerate. He was also heavily involved in studying new business segments for the group both in Dubai and internationally, mainly the U.S., Europe and East Africa. During that time, Kazim also represented TCO (precursor to Dubai World) on several boards including Tamweel, Nakheel, Istithmar, PCFC, Kerzner International in the US, Hyflux in Singapore, SpiceJet in India and Inchcape Shipping Service in the UK. Kazim was also a leading team member of acquisition of P&O in 2005.
Kazim left Dubai World after completing his mandate to establish the group and helped set up Investment Corporation of Dubai where he evaluated many different models and practices of SWFs such as Temasek, GIC, Khazanah and Norway’s.
Kazim served on the board of Emirates Securities & Commodities Authority (ESCA) for several years until 2010. He currently has his own consultancy practice focusing on business advice directed at the CEO and board level.He is a senior advisor to PwC Middle East and a board member of Commercial Bank of Dubai and Larsen & Toubro in India and has been advisor to multinationals such as RBS, Alix Partners, Oliver Wyman and others.
