Created by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and Mission Omega, the Financial Services Fraud Certificate Program will help you combat fraud in the financial services industry.
Through seven modules and 15 lessons, you will receive in-depth instruction of financial services concepts. In addition to an overview of the industry, you will learn how to create positive interactions with customers that combine effective service with protection from potential fraud.
Additionally, this certificate program contains vital information about several fraud-specific topics, including:
- A fraud risk management overview.
- Descriptions of common schemes and red flags.
- Applicable U.S. laws and regulations.
- How you can prevent and detect a variety of fraud schemes and scams.

Is the Financial Services Fraud Certificate Program a replacement for becoming a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)?
No.
The Financial Services Fraud Certificate Program is designed to help you understand a broad range of concepts related to working in financial services, increase your knowledge of fraud within the industry and give you the ability to market this to current or prospective employers.
The Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential is designed to recognize trained professionals who possess a unique set of diverse skills in preventing, detecting and investigating fraud. To earn the CFE credential, you must meet eligibility requirements and complete the significant undertaking of passing the rigorous CFE Exam. Completing an ACFE certificate program does not count toward meeting the eligibility requirements to become a CFE.

How can I promote that I’ve earned the certificate after completing the program?
Upon completing the program, you will receive a certificate of completion that you can download and share. Within 5-7 business days you will also receive a digital badge that you can add to your LinkedIn profile. Learn more about the digital badge.

What are the requirements for earning the certificate and digital badge?
To earn the certificate and digital badge for this program, you must receive a passing score (70% or higher) on the final exam within one year of purchase. You will have three attempts per exam to achieve a passing score.
Should you not pass the final exam after three attempts you may re-enroll in the certificate program by contacting ACFE Member Services and paying a $125 Certificate Program Re-Enrollment Fee. Once paid, any exam you had not previously passed will be reset to allow three attempts to receive a passing score.

How long will I have to complete the certificate program?
You will have one year from your purchase date to complete the certificate program. After one year from your purchase date, you will no longer be able to access the certificate program or the lessons contained within the certificate program. If you have not completed the certificate program within one year of purchase, you can re-enroll in the certificate program by contacting ACFE Member Services and paying a $125 Certificate Program Re-Enrollment Fee to receive an additional year to complete the certificate program.

Will I earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for completing the Financial Services Fraud Certificate Program?
Yes. To earn this certificate, you will need to pass the final exam with a score of 70% or higher within three attempts. Passing the final exam will provide you with 6 NASBA-approved CPE credits.

Does the certificate expire?
The certificate does not expire. Once you've earned it, you have it for life.

What do I need to do to maintain the certificate?
Unlike the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential which does have requirements to be maintained, the Financial Services Fraud Certificate does not require maintenance.
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Inc. is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.nasbaregistry.org.
