When Trust Becomes the Attack Surface: Preventing Romance Scams

Description

Romance scams are among the most devastating forms of financial crime, as they exploit trust, emotions and human relationships. Perpetrators build deep emotional bonds with their targets over weeks or months. That manipulation is often so effective that customers authorize payments and push back against people trying to help them — not because they're careless, but because the scam is designed to make intervention feel like betrayal.

Join Concentrix's Financial Crime & Compliance experts alongside special guest Tracy Hall, who will share her personal experience being targeted by a romance scam and the lasting emotional and financial impact it had on her life.

You will explore why romance scams are so difficult to detect, the behavioral and conversational warning signs that financial institutions should look for, and how frontline teams can intervene with empathy to protect customers before irreversible losses occur. You will also learn how AI and emerging technologies are changing both the tactics fraudsters use and the tools available to help organizations identify and disrupt scams earlier.
