CFE Exam Content Outline 

The CFE Exam Content Outline details the main topics covered in the four sections of the CFE Exam: Financial Transactions and Fraud Schemes, Law, Investigation and Fraud Prevention and Deterrence. A new version will be released in line with certification industry best practices every time the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) conducts a job analysis study.

How was the content outline developed?

In 2019, the ACFE partnered with Prometric to undertake a formal job analysis study to assess the current and expected future knowledge, skills and abilities needed to show full proficiency as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). This study involved a survey of all ACFE members, as well as two in-person task force meetings. The results of this job analysis study were used to create the content outline for the CFE Exam.
