ACFE's Fraud Prevention Check-Up, a simple yet powerful test of your company's fraud prevention processes, and the one-hour How Fraud Hurts You and Your Organization, are just two of the tools included in this useful resource.

About Fraud Prevention Check-Up
How vulnerable is your company to fraud? Do you have adequate controls in place to prevent it? Find out by using the ACFE's Fraud Prevention Check-Up, a simple yet powerful test of your company's fraud health. Test fraud prevention processes designed to help you identify major gaps and fix them before it is too late.

As a way to help the US business community provide corporate fraud prevention training to personnel at all levels, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) teamed together to create this valuable resource. How Fraud Hurts You and Your Organization explains what all employees can do to help protect their jobs and their organizations from fraud. In video clips from interviews, three individuals convicted of fraud explain how they fell into the trap of thinking that embezzling money from their company, or "cooking the books," would solve their problems.

The entry-level worker, the accounting manager and the senior member of management featured in the presentation make the issue of fraud relevant to everyone from the CEO to the newest hire. It includes a brief course on fraud theory, including the three elements of the "Fraud Triangle" that must be present for fraud to occur.

Why you should take the Fraud Prevention Check-Up

  • It is an affordable, easy-to-use method to identify gaps in your company's fraud prevention process. By identifying risks early, you have a chance to fix the problem before becoming a victim of a major fraud.

  • It is a great opportunity to establish a relationship with a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) whom you can call when fraud questions arise. Since the risk of fraud can be reduced but is rarely eliminated, it is likely your company will experience fraud in future and will need a CFE's assistance.
Strong fraud prevention processes bolster the confidence investors, regulators, audit committee members and the general public have in the integrity of your company's reports, which will help you attract and retain capital.
