Hamed Kazim
CEO, HK Consulting

Hamed Kazim is a UAE National and a graduate of the University of California, San Diego. He joined Arthur Andersen in the Washington D.C. office and obtained his CPA qualification with high distinction in 1986. Kazim has worked as a partner in Arthur Andersen and later as the Managing Partner of Ernst & Young in the UAE. From 1999-2000, Kazim was seconded to TECOM/Dubai Internet City, precursor to Dubai Holding and DU, as advisor to start up the project and later, as co-CEO.

From 2003 to 2006, Kazim initially advised and, later, helped form Dubai World. In his capacity as Group CFO, Hamed helped turn the group into a large conglomerate. He was also heavily involved in studying new business segments for the group both in Dubai and internationally, mainly the U.S., Europe and East Africa. During that time, Kazim also represented TCO (precursor to Dubai World) on several boards including Tamweel, Nakheel, Istithmar, PCFC, Kerzner International in the US, Hyflux in Singapore, SpiceJet in India and Inchcape Shipping Service in the UK. Kazim was also a leading team member of acquisition of P&O in 2005.

Kazim left Dubai World after completing his mandate to establish the group and helped set up Investment Corporation of Dubai where he evaluated many different models and practices of SWFs such as Temasek, GIC, Khazanah and Norway’s.

Kazim served on the board of Emirates Securities & Commodities Authority (ESCA) for several years until 2010. He currently has his own consultancy practice focusing on business advice directed at the CEO and board level.He is a senior advisor to PwC Middle East and a board member of Commercial Bank of Dubai and Larsen & Toubro in India and has been advisor to multinationals such as RBS, Alix Partners, Oliver Wyman and others.

Prof. Dr. Marco Gercke
Director, Cybercrime Research Institute

Prof. Dr. Marco Gercke is an international expert in the field of cybersecurity and cybercrime and for more than ten years has advised governments and international organisations on those matters. He is director of the Cybercrime Research Institute - an independent global think tank dealing with legal aspects of cybercrime and cybersecurity. Holding a Ph.D. in criminal law with a focus on cybercrime, he teaches cybercrime law, international criminal law and European criminal law at the University of Cologne. The focus of his research is on international aspects of strategy, policy, law and regulations related to cybersecurity and cybercrime. In this respect he was and is working as an expert for several international organizations, among them the Council of Europe, the European Union, the United Nations and the International Telecommunication Union. Gercke assisted various countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Pacific region in developing strategies, policies and legislation in relation to cybersecurity and cybercrime.

Bruce Dorris, J.D., CFE, CFA, CVA

Bruce Dorris is the Vice President and Program Director for the ACFE and is an advisory member of the ACFE Board of Regents. He is licensed to practice law as well as being a licensed Certified Public Accountant with experience in business valuation and litigation support. As an Assistant District Attorney for the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office in Shreveport, Louisiana, Dorris created and was the Director of its Financial Crimes Screening Section. He formerly served on the Board of Directors with the National White Collar Crime Center, and was the Vice Chairman of its Audit Committee. He is a Past President of the Louisiana District Attorneys’ Association ADA Section, and has worked in the Louisiana House of Representatives Fiscal Division. He has testified numerous times before legislative committees and was a frequent lecturer with prosecutor and accountant training associations.

Jeffrey Robinson
Author and international expert on organised crime and fraud

Jeffrey Robinson is the bestselling author of 27 books and a popular speaker on the international event circuit. His money laundering tour de force, The Laundrymen, was a headline-maker in 14 countries, establishing him as a recognised expert on organised crime, fraud and money laundering. In addition to books on dirty money, he has written a number of investigative non-fiction books, major biographies and half a dozen novels.

Andreas Kapardis

Andreas Kapardis is Professor of Legal Psychology in the Department of Law at the University of Cyprus, a visiting professor at the Institute of Criminology, a Life-Member of Clare Hall Cambridge University, and an elected Full Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He was previously a university academic in Australia. His main research and teaching interests lie in criminology, criminal justice, penology and forensic psychology. His last book was Psychology and Law (4th ed.) by Cambridge University Press, 2014.

Maria Krambia-Kapardis

Maria Krambia-Kapardis is an Associate Professor in Accounting at Cyprus University of Technology. For a number of years she was a university academic in Australia. She is Chair and founding member of Transparency International-Cyprus and has served as chair of the Economic Crime and Forensic Accounting Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus. She is also a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia. She has authored a number of books on the topic of economic crime and corruption with the most recent book being Corporate Fraud and Corruption: A Holistic Approach to Preventing Financial Crises by Palgrave Macmillan. In 2015 she was awarded two best paper awards by Emerald for her publications in the field of corruption.

Elena Maroun, CFE, ACCA, CRMA

For the last 5 years Elena Maroun has been actively involved in the following tasks of the group: a setup of a fraud risk management framework and introducing anti-fraud policies and procedures; building effective fraud prevention system; investigating various suspicious activities; maintaining the fraud register and KFIs; conducting annual fraud awareness training; and overseeing the customer complaints and whistleblowing channel of communication with stakeholders. Among the specific areas of responsibility, Maroun managed the risks of occupational fraud as well as payment fraud, especially with the use of electronic payment solutions, credit cards’ disputes and fraud resolution, corporate medical scheme and vendors’ contract fraud.

Sherman McGrew, J.D., CFE

Sherman McGrew entered military service as a Reservist in 1979, retiring as a U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel in 2010. He is a graduate of Army Command and General Staff College and has had three active duty deployments, working extensively with the UK Military and UK Civilian Police Contingent in Basra, Iraq. McGrew retired as a Captain with the Waterbury Police Department in 2009, having also served as a Patrolman, Detective, Sergeant and Lieutenant. He has conducted thousands of interviews with suspects and has lectured on interview and interrogation to the police, military and international audiences. As a detective, he extensively investigated financial crimes, securing convictions while at all times respecting the rights of the accused.

While at ADAA, Tania pioneered a comprehensive Anti-fraud and Corruption Program for the Government of Abu Dhabi, innovated the concept of the Global Fraud Risk Assessment and issued a Fraud Scenario Assessment Methodology.
