Educator Membership

University professors and instructors are an integral part of the ACFE Anti-Fraud Education Partnership. The ACFE offers a great opportunity for instructors to join the ACFE, providing access to expert training and other member benefits. Educator Associate members are eligible to receive the following additional benefits with their ACFE Membership.

Opportunity to Attend Free Training

The ACFE reserves a limited number of fee-waived seats at our semi-annual Principles of Fraud Examination seminars for professors who have committed to implement a 3-hour course entitled “Fraud Examination.”

This 3 ½-day course provides a thorough grounding in the four basic areas of fraud examination: criminology & ethics, legal elements of fraud, fraudulent financial transactions, and investigation techniques.

It’s the perfect preparation for teaching your own fraud examination course. Plus you’ll learn practical examples from the 100 or so anti-fraud professionals attending.  You’ll have the confidence to teach a fraud examination course as well as the tools to do it.

Up to 2 Educator Associate members, from the same school may attend the same event, at the same time. Any other attendees from the same school would have to pay the educator rate for the event.

Educator Requirements to Becoming a CFE

Because educators do not typically have the traditional fraud-related experienced required on the CFE application, the following criteria was created for educators to meet the experience requirement for the CFE credential.

The following criteria shall constitute “fraud-related” experience for educators who do not qualify based on the existing traditional experience requirement:

  • Four semesters teaching a fraud-related course (e.g. fraud examination, forensic accounting, auditing, or criminal justice) after December 31, 2002; and
  • Investigative research on a case with a CFE; and
  • Publication of a case in a scholarly or professional journal to augment the common body of knowledge concerning fraud detection and deterrence.
